One point between them

Norwich’s recent form has been difficult, with four defeats in their last five league matches, but the Championship table offers a timely opportunity to respond. They sit 20th on 12 points after 12 games, just one point and one place above Watford, who have a goal difference of -10 compared with Norwich’s -2. With both sides in the bottom five, even a small result could give one of them some breathing room.

Goals offer Norwich a foothold

Both teams have won only once in their last five, and each has a 20% form rating across that spell. Norwich have nevertheless scored seven goals in those matches, more than twice Watford’s three, while conceding nine to Watford’s 11.

The wider season figures underline the contrast in attack. Norwich have scored 20 goals in 12 games, compared with Watford’s 10. Watford have found goals especially hard to come by away from home, scoring just twice in six trips; Norwich have scored 10 times across their six home matches. Yet neither side arrives with a reliable defence: Norwich have conceded 22 overall, Watford 20.

Recent meetings point both ways

The latest league meeting at Carrow Road went Watford’s way, 1-0, in December 2025. But Norwich have won three of the last five meetings listed, including two away victories, while Watford’s other win came in a 3-2 home match. The recent record offers no simple answer, but it shows Norwich have found ways to trouble Watford.

Absences could shape the contest

Norwich will be without A. Ahmed, P. A. Diallo, G. Forsyth and M. Toure. P. Mattsson and M. Topic are questionable. Watford have five listed absentees: M. Antonio, K. Baah, E. Bove, S. Coulibaly and J. Ngakia.

Norwich’s home attack against Watford’s away struggles

Norwich’s 10 home goals give them a platform, while Watford’s two away goals point to the visitors’ central challenge. The hosts have also conceded 10 times at Carrow Road, so Watford may still find opportunities if they can improve on their recent output.

Our prediction

Norwich’s greater scoring output, stronger goal difference and home advantage make them the likelier side to edge a close encounter. PreviaXI’s model also favours the hosts, with a narrow margin reflecting the teams’ shared poor recent form.

Norwich 1-0 Watford
